Entrepreneurship in the circular economy and innovative business model practices

The circular economy is becoming an increasingly discussed topic within business and academia. In order to support sustainable development and find solutions to environmental problems, the transition from traditional economy to circular economy is crucial. For this transition, linear business models need to be renewed in line with circular principles. Therefore, the transition to the circular economy requires innovative business models and entrepreneurs who will implement them. Whilst many entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life in the circular economy, there is currently little research on this new breed of entrepreneurs. In this context, this thesis set out to develop an understanding of circular entrepreneurs. Through semi-structured interviews, the founding identities, motivations, and business models of circular entrepreneurs were evaluated. In addition, opportunities and barriers to entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial ecosystem and networks were evaluated.
