The situation of west African countries within the framework of the adaptation work to the fourth industrial revolution: The case of Benin

The first industrial revolution occurred in the 1760s, when the stream engine was invented and the production triggered by the construction of railways. A century later, he second industrial revolution began with mass production, which electricity and assembly lines allowed. The third industrial revolution emerged at the end of the 1960s, when computers and the Internet were catalyzed by the development of semiconductors. Nowadays, the universal presence of the Internet in its own mobile form, smaller, stronger and cheaper censors than ever before, artificial intelligence, the internet of objects, 3D printing, big data, industrial robots and human-machine interface, new way of energy storage and the emergence of a quantum computer, the way of life, work and consumption are being rediscovered. At institutional, national, regional and global levels, this revolution brings majors changes depending on culture, regulatory framework and technological stage. In this context, West African countries should make the necessary arrangements and examine and implement the most effective ways to develop their technological infrastructures to cope with the challenges of the digital revolution.
