Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis study; The aim is to determine the leadership tendencies of qualified secondary school administrators in Kocaeli and the effectiveness level of their schools according to the four framework models. The research is in relational screening model. The research population consists of qualified secondary education institutions belonging to the state and private secondary education institutions at the level of science and Anatolian high schools in Kocaeli. The sample consists of 300 teachers and school administrators working in these institutions and determined by the stratified sampling method. The data of the research were collected through the "Four Framework Leadership Tendency Scale" developed by Bolman and Deal (1991) and the "Effective School Scale" developed by Şişman (1996). Pairwise comparison tests and correlation analyzes were used to solve the sub-problems of the research. According to the results of the research, it was observed that school administrators showed the most human resources leadership tendency according to the perceptions of school administrators and teachers in both private and public schools. It was found that they showed a tendency towards structural leadership in the second place. While the political leadership tendency is in the third place, it has been determined that they show the least symbolic leadership tendency. While the level of effectiveness of schools in state high schools is the highest in the sub-dimensions of school culture and environment, the effectiveness level of the other dimensions is school program, administrators, teachers, school environment and parents, respectively. The students sub-dimension was the least effective dimension. When we look at the effectiveness levels of private schools, it is only the administrators dimension that takes the second place. A significant difference was observed between school administrators and teachers' perceptions of leadership tendency in political and symbolic leadership sub-dimensions. There is only a significant difference between the perceptions of private and public school employees regarding the symbolic leadership framework. When the effectiveness level of schools is examined in terms of variables, a significant difference was observed only in the dimension of students. According to the four-frame model, it has been determined that there is a significant, strong and positive relationship between leadership tendencies and the basic dimension of the effective school. Keywords: Four framework models of leadership, structural leadership, human resources leadership, political leadership, symbolic leadership, effective school
