Early Ottoman coins at Dr. Şevkullah Bal's Collection

In the thesis titled "Early Ottoman Coins in the Dr. Şevkullah Bal Collection", the Ottoman coins minted between the years from Osman Gazi (1299) to the end of the reign of Murad II (1451) of the collection of the collector Dr. Şevkullah Bal in the Izmir Archaeological Museum were discussed. Together with Osman Gazi, the founder of the Ottoman Principality, the first coin of the principality was minted. Afterwards, each ruler who became the head of the principality continued to issue coins in his name. In the collection of Dr. Şevkullah Bal, there are examples of coins minted by all early Ottoman rulers except the Osman Gazi period. In this collection, there are a total of 283 coins belonging to the Early Ottoman period, which are within the scope of the research. Of the coins, 212 are coins, 67 are mangir and 4 are dirhams. 105 of the coins in the collection belong to Orhan Gazi, 28 to Murad I, and 13 to Bayezid I. 16 of the coins minted by the princes who claimed to reign during the Fetret Era are those belonging to Emir Süleyman, 4 to Musa Çelebi, 1 to Mustafa Çelebi and 36 to Çelebi Mehmed. There are a total of 19 coins belonging to Mehmed I, who became the head of the principality after the Fetret Era. Finally, 61 of the coins belong to Murad II.
