Abstract (EN)

We are able to come across the first examples of portrayals in plastic arts beginning from the middle Paleolithic and Neolithic era under the light of the findings that survived until today. It is accepted that the fundamental aesthetic and spiritual concerns of the human beings had been the motive for revealing the petro glyphs (rock engravings), sculptures and terra-cotta figures which exhibit descriptive characteristics. Those also intend to have magical objectives related with dominating the nature. Therefore there are mainly animal and hunting themed figures in the petro glyphs.Production in plastic arts becoming extensive and systematic had been accelerated upon the prehistoric man transitioning from being a collector to agricultural production and settled life. The primary great civilizations would be initiating their intrinsic artistic development in the forthcoming times. The legends that were primarily transferred by means of verbal narration constituted one of the main themes of plastics arts since the first age civilizations. Such legends that transformed into written sources in the course of time were started to be portrayed by means of plastic arts.It was the legends where the plastic arts were mainly handled with in the ancient era however the literary repertoire that was formed during the transition period to monotheistic religion had been an affluent source for plastic arts. Another source which constituted a theme for plastic arts in literary field is the literary letters. Theatrical activities starting with the Dionysus festival that we meet examples of which since the ancient era and the reflection in the plastic arts of the literature developing in this way may be faced since the early periods.Portrayal of a subject, an occurrence required both fields of art to deal with the same composition problems. These lead up the formal notions which have a role in both fields of art to emerge. However the main path for this study is to depict the theatrical plays through plastic arts.Within this context, reflections in the plastic arts of the theatrical themes throughout the ages shall be dealt with the change in terms of depiction and manner and the expressionist and descriptive characteristics of theatre in painting art.
