Teaching the unit of external power with different methods

This study is done in order to compare the effects of using different reaching methods in student succes while teaching the subjects in the unit of "Externa Power" at high schools. The experiment was conducted with 69 first grade students in Gümüşe va High School which is dependent to the edministrasion of national aducation in Gümüşova in Düzce. Those 69 students in Gümüşova High school are the semples of the study. The prepared of achievement test was also applied to 100 senior students who arc attending the same school (second grade students) in order to analyze the reliability and correctness. As the result of that application the number of items of the achieve' vent test which consisted of 48 items was decreased to 40. The achievement test whbh <." nsisted of 40 items was used as a pretest before application then it was used as a pattest after the application. In the analyzing the statistical findings related to the inferior problems c f of the study SPSS packet programme was used. Those are some of the results of te study; 1. While teaching the unit of "Extermal Power" the subjects should be preserved in a concerete way by the teachers. 2.1n order to make the subjects concrete more than one senses of the students should be eddrassed. 3. Especially by the visualizing the subjects and terms in the unit of "External Power" students should be helped to see the shapes of those terms and subjects. 4. The method of excursion and observation is a useful metho in geography. However, it is not economical especially in time and cost. 5. If the students aren't able to see the shapes of surface by using the excursion and observation method, VCD,video, projection, models and sand table can be used to visualize them.IV 6. According the students achievements of the group to which the narration and question-answer methods were applied, it was found out that the succeed of the j^roup to which methods of similation and demonstration applied was high. In conclusion, the teaching which based on the visual methods which addressed more than one sense of the students have the best result. The materials and tools which are neccessary for those methods are available in most of our schools. By usinş VCD, video, overhead projector, sand table during teaching the course can be more enioyable, fruitful, the subjects and terms can be made more concrete and comprehesible.
