Examination of Disney Pixar animation movie posters in context of graphic design

The human being's internalization of the desire to write, draw and design throughout history and reflecting it as a form af self- expression has formed the basis of graphic design. In time;with the increasing importance of the concept of communication, many innovations have emerged in the field of graphic design. Design principles and elements, which form the building blocks of graphic design, guide the design and shed light on the design. In graphic design; the desire to produce and reproduce gained momentum with the invention of the printing press and the cinema industry was positively affected by the results of this rapid development, as in all sectors. Poster designs, which play an important role in the promotion of films, are one of the effective communication tools of graphic design. In this sense, poster designs for animation films, which have been in existence with an increasing momentum in recent years, stand out in terms of both the width of their target audience and their design and application features. The purpose of this research; Inthe context of graphic design, Pixar is to examine animated movie posters. The literatüre review was used to generate the qualitative data of the study. The posters discussed in the research were analyzed and evaluated in line with the basic design principles. Accordingly, when the poster designs eithin the scope and boundaries of the research prepared for Disney Pixar animations are examined; In general, it has been seen that it has been prepared within the framework of design principles and elements. It has been observed that the frames in the animated movie scenes, the protagonists of the movies and the main themes of the movies are reflected on the posters. A sense of depth is given to the posters by using open composition. The designs are highlighted with the color contrasts on the posters. Value usage; while giving depth and fullness to the design, the distance between the objects on the poster and the characters and the proximity-distance relationship are adjusted with light shade and color pigments.It is seen that a balance is achieved by establishing a close- distance relationship in the posters. The correct and balanced use of the space- filling ratio in the posters relaxes the design and does not tire the eyes of the viewer.
