Abstract (EN)

This study which is entitled Small Industries in Dohuk in north of Iraq examined one of the sectors of industrial activity. This sector is concerned with small industries and the study dealt with it in a detailed and comprehensive way. These industries are prominent in the area of study and are related to growth, urban development, the development of housing projects and infrastructure and are important for all development sectors. The problem of the study can be summarized in many questions aimed at question whether these small projects are distributed equally and what is the effect of geographical factors on their distribution in the area of study. Also, it aimed at reaching to a clear definition of small industries and clarifying the most important aspects and characteristics of these industries. Moreover, it follows the growth and development of small industries in Iraq in general and in Duhok Governorate in particular and it follows a nature of place distribution of industries. It aimed at showing the factors of industrial inhabitance affecting this distribution and the role of these industries in development and showing the main problems that these small projects suffer from suggesting the suitable solutions for them and drawing the future image of their directions. The study has gone through many stages including collecting data and information from library and institutional resources and then there is the field study and extracting the data in indexes and tables. This researcher has depended on this data in inference and interpolation through statistical analysis and using visual representation such as maps of distribution, illustration maps and diagrams. The study has followed the descriptive methodology in the theoretical part and the provincial, explanatory, objective and analytical methodology in the application part in which there have been many criteria to get to the final results of numbers, tables and figures. Duhok district; It remarked as a first in terms of established industries, 34.7% of the total 2935 industrial sites in the province are in Zaho district. The variability factor was found to be 0.45 in the study area. This shows that there is a highly variable industry area. Average annual profit is 43% based on total expenses. The sector with the highest profit is the textile and clothing, followed by the metal industry, and the last is the food sector. There are many problems faced by small industries in Duhok. The most important of these problems is related to technology, while the rate of those who encounter this problem in the study samples is 26.4%, the second problem is marketing.
