Examination of logistics villages in the world and suggestions for Türkiye

The logistics sector is a sector whose importance is increasing daily and occupies a worldwide place. As the logistics sector has gained importance, the concepts that come with it have gained importance. Logistics villages are one of them. Logistics villages are areas where many logistics operations are carried out together. Logistics villages are established close to railway networks to carry out intermodal transport. Thanks to logistics villages, it is possible to harmoniously serve railway, road, airway, and maritime transport. Logistics villages have a function in terms of product and service. It contributes to the supplier and buyer needing help transporting goods and services from one point to another. Twelve logistics villages are providing active service in Türkiye. These logistics villages are located on railway networks, and there are also logistics villages close to ports within these logistics villages. These logistics villages were established close to organized industrial zones. Thus, city traffic was tried to be pulled out of the city. Some logistics villages are still under construction and in the planning stage in our country. With the activation of these logistics villages, logistics services can be carried out with better quality. With the connection of all logistics villages in our country, it will be possible to complete logistics activities in a shorter time. In our country, studies on logistics villages started in 2006. In these studies, Türkiye's geographical location was considered, its contributions to the country were examined, and the country's development targets were examined. At the same time, the e-interview technique was selected as the data collection method in this study. Logistics villages in Türkiye were tried to be reached, and experts in these logistics villages were interviewed electronically. With the semi-structured interview technique, 19 questions were asked of the experts, and the answers were noted. With the answers obtained, evaluations were made about the status and activities of logistics villages. At the same time, at the end of the study, an ideal logistics village was created based on the answers received from experts through electronic interviews. The services that should be in an ideal logistics village have been explained, and the contributions of these services have been evaluated.
