Surface modification of duplex stainless steel with FeMo/B4C and FeMo/FeCrC powders by plasma transfer arc method

Abstract (EN)
In this study, the surface of AISI2205 duplex stainless steel was coated with FeMo, B4C ve FeCrC alloy powders mixed in different ratios by plasma transfer arc (PTA) welding method. The surface coating was carried out at a feed rate of 0.15 m/min, a current of 130 A and an argon atmosphere. Coated surface layers microstructures of the obtained samples were analyzed by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDS) methods. Microhardness measurements were performed on microhardness tester. Dry sliding wear properties were determined using block-on-disc type wear tester. Wear tests were performed at 30 N load and 00 m sliding distance. In the experiments, different microstructures were determined according to the powder mixture ratio. Cr2C3, MoNi4, CrNi and Cr2Fe14 phases were determined in the coating layer of FeMo coated sample, B2O3, Fe5C2, Cr6Fe18Mo5, Cr7C3, Cr23C6 and B41,33C4,45 were determined in the coating layer of FeMo-B4C coated sample and Ni6Mo6C ve Cr7C3 were determined in the coating layer of FeMo-FeCrC coated sample. The hardness values of the coated samples were higher than AISI2205 and the highest hardness value was 318 HV in FeMo-75B4C coated sample. The hardness of the coated samples increased with increasing B4C and FeCrC ratio. It was determined that the wear resistance of the coated samples was higher than the substrate material and the sample with the highest wear resistance was FeMo-75 B4C coated sample.
