A review of published study on si̇tuated learni̇ng teory and cogni̇ti̇ve apprenti̇ceshi̇p method (1990-2020)

In this research, doctorate and master's theses published between 1990-2020 on the concepts of situational learning, cognitive apprenticeship and coaching were examined. The study is a systematic review. Document analysis was used as a data collection technique in the research, and criterion sampling technique was chosen from purposive sampling methods. The research population consists of 79 theses that contain at least one of the key concepts of situational learning, cognitive apprenticeship and coaching published in YÖK Thesis. The criterion sampling technique, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used as the research sample and as a result, the complete count was reached. The "Publication Classification Form" created by the researcher was used to collect and classify the data. Form, description of the article (Type of study "PhD thesis-Master's thesis", year, university in which it was published, gender of the author), discipline in focus, research approaches (Quantitative, qualitative, mixed), research methods (Experimental/non-experimental, interactive/non-interactive , mixed) data collection tools (Questionnaire/scale, achievement test, attitude/perception/personality/ability tests, interview (Interview), observation, alternative assessment tools, document), sample sizes, sample type (Student, teacher, teacher candidate, other) and stages (preschool education, primary education, secondary education, university), data analysis methods (quantitative, qualitative) consists of a total of 6 parts. Doctoral and master's thesis obtained the data were presented in tables and graphs. According to the findings, the number of thesis studies on the examined concepts has increased over the years, female researchers have more thesis studies than male researchers, the focus discipline in the theses is education and training, the most quantitative approaches and questionnaire / scale in doctorate and master's theses. It was concluded that data collection tools were used, quantitative/non-experimental research methods and anova/ancova data analysis method were used most in master's theses, and quantitative/experimental research methods and mean/standard deviation data analysis method were mostly used in doctoral theses.
