The comparision of longitudinal seed distribution of a pneumatic precision seeder with vertical seed plate for some vegetable seeds on field and laboratory conditions

ABSTRACT THE COMPARISION OF THE LONGITUDINAL SEED DISTRIBUTION OF A PNEUMATIC PRECISION SEEDER WITH VERTICAL SEED PLATE FOR SOME VEGETABLE SEEDS ON FIELD AND LABORATORY CONDITIONS Davut KARAYEL Master of Sciences Thesis, Department of Farm Machinery December 1998, 45 Pages The objective of this study is to compare the values of longitudinal seed distribution of a pneumatic precision seeder with vertical seed plate at laboratory and field conditions. Onion and watermelon seeds were used in laboratory and field experiments. While the laboratory experiments were carried out with fixed and moving belt experimental systems at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 m/s forward speed, field experiments were conducted at 1.5 m/s forward speed and optimum soil condition. According to the results, for both seeds at all experiments, the differences between the values of longitudinal seed distribution are important significantly at 5% level. While the differences between fixed belt and moving belt laboratory experiments were not important in watermelon experiments, it was significantly important in onion experiments at 5% level.
