Abstract (EN)
Waste is an undesirable and rapidly increasing environmental problem of developing technology and industry. Due to insufficient treatment in the textile, paper and leather industries, wastewater containing dyestuffs discharged into environments such as seas, lakes and rivers has a carcinogenic effect and its damage to the environmental ecosystem is increasing day by day. While more than one method used in the treatment of these wastewaters, the most common is the adsorption process. For this reason, the search for easily obtainable, low cost and high efficiency adsorbents continues. Within the scope of the thesis, experimental studies were carried out to investigate the use of low quality Elbistan lignite in this field. After determining the adsorption capacity of lignite, mechanochemical activation was performed by adding MgCO3 in certain proportions. Activation of lignite to be used for adsorption was tried for the first time with this method and the dye removal capacity of activated lignite using 3 different dyes (malachite green, crystal violet, methylene blue) was investigated. The adsorption mechanism has been tried to be clarified with the data obtained as a result of basic characterization analyses of materials, isoterm and kinetic studies.
