Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this study is to reveal the philosophical bases of the theories of emotion. The study consists of six chapters. In the first part, which is introduction, the problem situation, the purpose of the research, its importance, assumptions, limitations and related studies were given. In the second part, the method used for this study was presented. The method of the research, universe and sample, data collection techniques and data analysis were explained. In the third part, the data regarding emotions were presented. In the fourth chapter, the ideas of the philosophers who came to the forefront in their own period in the history of philosophy giving place to emotion in their views were given. Plato, Aristotle and stoic philosophy in the ancient philosophy, Descartes, Spinoza, Hobbes and Hume in the modern philosophy, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche in 19th century philosophy, and the thoughts of Kierkegaard, Sartre and Heidegger in existential philosophy were examined in terms of emotion. In the fifth part, four theories of emotion, which are evolutionary, physiological, cognitive and psychoanalytic theories, were explained within the scope of psychological studies and then they are discussed together with their philosophical foundations in the light of the data obtained from the fourth chapter. In the last section, the conclusions and recommendations of the study were given.
