The role of emotional intelligence on visionary leadership: A study on tourism business managers

Various leadership concepts have been discussed since the beginning of humanity. Today, organizations need leadership styles that can keep up with the times and predict the future and make a plan for achieve success. Visionary leadership is one of the behaviors that are more popular recently and considered as a contemporary leadership approach. Many studies have been conducted on the concept of emotional intelligence, which is think about to make a difference for leaders, and the effects of emotional intelligence on administrator ship have been explained. With the literature review, it was determined that there are limited studies on visionary leadership. The relationship between emotional intelligence and many leadership approaches has been investigated but it has been found that its relationship with visionary leadership has not been examined. It is the only study in its field with the examination of its relationship with emotional intelligence. The problem of the study is the impact of emotional intelligence on the visionary leadership dimensions of risk-taking behaviour, innovative behaviour, proactive behaviour for vision and vision development. The research consists of four parts. In the first and second chapters, theoretical information about emotional intelligence and visionary leadership is given. In the third chapter, the data collected from the research sample were analyzed in line with the purpose of the research, and the results were explained. In the fourth chapter, the findings are interpreted. The results of the research have shown that emotional intelligence has a positive effect on visionary leadership.
