Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on beliefs and tradition and belief of tradition periods of people who live in Düzce. The most important transition periods of human life birth, marriage and death. İn these periods any indiviual is prepared for new life, new periods in life with various practices and beliefs.Customs and usages, rules, traditions, practices and fashion named as social norms constitue the public culture. The public culture provides order and harmony in the social life of individuel. Furthermore, it functins as a bridge between the past and future of societies and helps to protect nation?s wealth and unity on large scale.At the intro the information about the subject, aim, axtent and the method was given. At the first part history, geography, plant cover and the population of the research area were introduced. İn adition part, social norms which organise human life (tradition, customs and usages, rules, practices and fashion) are presented. This part was handled under the main headline and at first subfield ?birth? the beliefs and traditions abaout birth, beginning from the periods before the birth and after the birth; at second subfield ?marriage? starting from the definition, the period before and after the marriage, and at the third subfield the ?death? which is the and of the tradition period inculiding the applications over the dead people and the traditions were introduced. Last chapter is devoted to a general evaluation of the research.The sources of tradition used in the research study are given under two headings of oral and writwn sources. The pictures taken in the field took place in appendix section.Tradition periods that is related to all segments of society from past to future are important phases that show the grades of social change and development.Keywords: Düzce, Tradition Periods, Birth, Marriage, Death
