Abstract (EN)
In this study, physical, mechanical properties and usability of the aggregates obtained from Asar Creek, Small Melen Creek, Aksu Creek, Hasanoğlan Dam and Kurtsuyu location in Düzce region were investigated. To determine of the aggregate properties; grain distribution, loose and tight unit weight, amount of organic material, rate of fine materials, rate of surface moisture, specific gravity, rate of water absorption, resistance of freezing and thawing, resistance of Los Angeles abrasion, impact value, crushing value and Mohs hardness tests were conducted. Slump test, density and Ve-be tests were realised on the produced fresh concrete. After these experimental studies, the concretes with the same mix proportion were produced by using aggregates obtained each one aggregates quarry and engineering properties of these concrete were examined. On the hardened concrete; specific gravity, water absorption, split tensile strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity, Schmidt rebound hammer and compressive strength tests were conducted and the obtained results were interpreted by comparing together with for each one aggregates quarry. As a result, it was seen that natural aggregates have good engineering properties than crushed Stone aggregates. Also, mechanical properties of concrete which were produced by using Aksu creek aggregates are so good than the other concretes were produced by using the other aggregates quarry. It was determined that all of the Düzce region?s aggregates are suitable to produce concrete.
