Abstract (EN)
Recently, along with the other engineering fields, research studies are being conducted in structural engineering, parallel to the scientific developments. For the buildings which are affected by external loads, it is possible to use their capacities in the most efficient way, to observe closely the real behavior of the structures and to determine their collapse safety.When results of strong earthquakes, that took place in our country which is sited in a zone of high seismicty, are studied, it is clearly seen that level of damage on structures is high and loss of life caused by structural damage is great. When these consequences are considered, the first aim of earthquake engineering is to endure earthquakes without having too much structural damage that will be the cause of human loss. Among studies conducted to achieve this goal, the evaluation of earthquake safety of existing structures by performance based analyses takes the firs place.In this study, which is presented as a Master of Science Thesis, it is studied on totally forty plane frame structural system which have fixed span length and fixed storey height. The number of storey varies between one and eight and the number of span varies between one and five for these plane frame structural systems. The value of performance points for these structure systems were determinated with using SAP 2000. Equivalance quake load method was used for the quake load in these systems. After the quake loads effected on the systems , its calculated that performans point values ( P-?) according to Capasity Spectrum Method by SAP 2000 analysis programme.The impact of the values of B and H on the performance point was investigated by using artificial neural networks. The number of thirty two of these structural systems were used for training in ANN. Other eight structural systems were used for testing the network. Its understood that the performance point of the plane frame structural systems with fixed span length and storey heigth but on condition that B and H values variable ,can be easily found by using ANN.
