Evaluations on the importance of e-sports in the world economy

The concept of Esports, known as Electronic Sports, is a virtual competition platform that is organized according to the game and rules, requires skill, talent as well as hand-eye coordination, has a large number of fans and fans, and is performed individually or as a team. Esports, which is recognized as a sport branch by many countries, is a field with its own international federation and national federations in member countries. Esports, which interacts with many social areas, especially sports, is considered to be one of the constantly growing industries of the last 20 years with the development of technology and the widespread use of digitalization. In this study, answers were sought to the question of what Esports means for the World Economy at the point it has reached today. Esports is a new field that continues to grow and continues its existence in the digital environment. First of all, the importance and relationship of the concepts of sports and digitalization for Esports were mentioned. At the same time, the effects of the Covid-19 process, which started in late 2019 and are still ongoing, in terms of Esports were also examined. According to the results of the study, it was seen that the increase in Esports dynamics between 2000 and 2020 significantly affected the prize money in time series analysis. According to the results of the study, the most important factors affecting the economic size of the Esports market between 2000 and 2020 are increasing the number of players and teams and the production of new games.
