The effect of using mand-model procedure trough parent coaching on soci̇al skills level of children with autism spectrum disorder

In this study, the effectiveness of parental coaching practice presented by the researcher on the level of implementation of mand-model by parents of children with ASD was investigated. In addition, the effectiveness of mand-model implemented by parents of children with ASD on their ability to request, ask for help and thank them was also evaluated. However, the level of social validity of the practice was determined through individual interviews with parents and social comparison of children with their typical peers. Four parents (two mother two fathers) aged between 28 and 44 and four children with ASD (two boys and two girls) aged between 4 and 6 years participated in the study. In the study, among the single-subject research methods, a multiple probe design across behaviors repetition with participant was used. The findings obtained from the study show that parents have gained the implementation steps of mand-model by the parent coaching practice provided by the researcher, and that they can continue their gains after the end of the research and they can generalize their skills to new situations. When the data obtained from the children participating in the study were examined; implementation mand-model by parents has been shown to have an impact on children's social skill levels. The children were able to continue their skills after a certain period of time and they were able to generalize to different situations.
