Abstract (EN)

The basic aim of this thesis is to examine the adaptation and depression levels of the children at the age of 9-12, whose parents are divorced and in the process of divorcement. This thesis is a quantitative work. The working groupof this thesis consists of 70 childrenwhose parents are in the process of divorcement and 39 children whose parents are divorced and applied to the courts to get the custody of the children, and all these children are at the age of 9-12. The independent variables are ; age, gender, educational backgrounds of the parents, monthly income of the parents, number of the siblings, the number of the people living in the same house together, the status of the parents divorcement, the frequency of meeting the parent who left the house, the marriage situation of the parents after getting divorced from each other and the alteration of the childrends lifes. The dependent variables of the thesis are "The Adaptation Scale Of The Devorcement For The Children " and "The Depression Scale OfTthe Children". To analysis the datas ; the Statistical Package Programme of SPSS is used. According to the demografic features of the participants; The Scale Of Depression For Children And The Scale Of Adaptation To The Divorcement For Children, also it's subscales; Conflict and Bad Adaptation, The T Test at Comparing The Depression And Anxiety and Social Support Scores, Unilateral Variance and Correlation Analysis are used at this work. Being worked with the children at ages between 9 and 12 whose parents are divorced or at the process of the divorcement; this thesis is thougt to be useful on the basis of the increase of divorce rates and the limited researches in parallel with that. It's seen that the level of depression, anxiety and the adaptation to the divorcement of the children at the age of 9-12 are worked in the former researches but; there isn't any research of examining the adaptation of divorcement and depression levels of the childrens whose parents are divorced and in the process of divorcement. And also previous researches were worked with the children whose parents were divorced or together attending to the government schools. But at this research, it is worked with the children at the age of 9-12 whose parents are divorced, applied for "custody change" or for divorcement and custody to the Domestic Relations Courts in Administration Of Justice in Izmir. At this reseacrh; it's discovered that the 9-12 aged children whose parents are already divorced are much more adapted to the divorcement examining to the children whose parents are in the process of divorcement. It's also seen that the depression levels are equal between the girls and boys while the girls adaptation rates to the divorcement are much more higher from the boys. But there isn't any difference observed about the depression levels, anxiety levels, conflict and adaptation levels when its examined that children whose parents are divorced and whose parents are in the process of divorcement. It's observed that there isn't a meaningful difference between their fathers income and their adaptation to the divorcement and depression levels of the children whose parents are divorced or at the process of divorcement; but a significant difference is observed between their social support scores which is a subscale of the Adaptation To The Divorcement Scale and their fathers montly income. It came to a conclusion that the children whose fathers' montly incomes are higher perceive more social support. At this research, it's also observed that there is a positive correlation between the frequency of meeting their parents and getting adapted to the divorcement whose parents are divorced and whose parents are at the process of divorcement of the children at the age of 9-12. The children who meet their parents more often gets adapted to the divorcement much more easier. It appeared that the children who do not meet their parents have high anxiety and negative adaptation scores comparing with the children who meet their parents once a week. As a conclusion of the research, the childrens depression scale rates are nominal who has more siblings comparing to the children who have less siblings or have any sibling; but their social support scale and the scale of adaptation to the divorcement rates are supernal.
