The stuaition of the great sinner in Abu Mansur al-Maturidi thought

In this thesis, we will try to determine the issue of great sin, the situation of the murtakıb-ı kabırah and the criticisms he directed to other theological sects on this issue, based on the works written by Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, and what kind of path Maturidi followed. We will try to determine how Maturidi, who is also a commentator, interprets the verses in this framework and how he develops an attitude against the evi- dence of other sects. This subject, which we will examine based on his works, will also include views such as faith-deed, sagîre-kebire, va'd-vaîd, umûm-husûs, intercession, al-manzılah beyne'l-manziletayn. With this study, we will try to reveal the views of Mâturîdî and to determine at what points he differs or resem- bles other sects. Discussions about the faith of the murtakib-i kabir. After the death of the Prophet, it became one of the main issues faced by Muslims. As a result of a series of events that started with the martyrdom of Osman, civil wars broke out, although it was forbidden among Muslims, and many Muslims, including the Com- panions, were killed. Discussions about the worldly and otherworldly fate of these people who fought with each other affected the formation of the first faith sects. Thus, the establishment process of sects such as Kharijites, Mu'tazila and Murjie was the result of these discussions. Even today, this issue has been one of the only arguments used by Salafism, Wahhabiism and Radical movements. In this respect, the deter- mination of Mâturîdî's thoughts, the basic reference points, the way he interpreted the texts, the focal points of his criticisms of the sects are important in terms of making sense of the faith of the sinner. Thus, it will cause a healthy understanding of Mâturîdî's views and the position of the murteb-i kabirah, and it will be understood on which foundations his way of thinking is built in these discussions.
