Prof. Dr. Mustafa A?IRMAN In this study Abû Mûsâ al-Aslf arî's life and characteristics has been studied. Our aim, is to give readers detailed information about Abû Mûsâ al- Aslf arî and historical events in which he played a great role. For this purpose firstly some information about Yemen, his country, and the tribe he belonged to has been given. Secondly his life till four caliph period has been examined, his family and his grow and his conversion into Islam and his contributions to Islam during this period have been studied. Afterwards, his life during the Orthodox Caliphs and Mu*âwiya period has been examined. In this part we have mainly dealt with the military, political, legal and economical events that he took part in When he was a governor in Yemen and Basra and Kûfa, especially his role in Arbital Award. Finally it has been examined his knowledge and characteristics and pointed out that he was also an important scientist and had high moral virtues and was also praised by Prophet Muhammad. As a conclusion I could say that the subjects which the scope of the topic contains, have been enlighten as far as we have considered.
