Abstract (EN)

Essential oils are volatile complex compounds characterized by a strong odor, which are formed as secondary metabolites by aromatic plants. They are widely used for bactericidal, insecticides, fungicides, antioxidants, anticancers, cardiovascular, cosmetic and food applications. Essential oils derived from medicinal plants are promising compounds for induction of apoptosis and development of new anticancer agents in various cancer cell lines. In this thesis, Biological Activities of Echinophora Tenuifolia and Chenopodium Botrys Essential Oils were investigated. Essential oils were tested on 16 microorganisms by disk diffusion and MIC test. Antimicrobial effect was observed in all of the microorganisms studied. Biofilm inhibition was tested on 6 microorganisms and essential oils prevented biofilm formation. In the DPPH test, the IC50 value for Echinophora Tenuifolia was found to be 30,43384 Chenl / ml and for the Chenopodium Botrys IC50 was found to be 487,591 al / ml.Once cytotoxicity and apoptotic effect tests were examined, it was observed that Echinophora Tenuifolia and Chenopodium Botrys essential oils had a significant effect on MDA-MB-231 cells at all doses and times. The IC50 dose of Chenopodium Botrys essential oil was determined to be approximately 7 µl / ml and approximately 5 µl/ ml oil concentration to 72 hours at 24 and 48 hours. Echinophora Tenuifolia and Chenopodium Botrys essential oils have a lower effect on CCD-19Lu cells compared to MDA-MB-231 cells, but the effect in doses is significant. When the AO / EB fluorescence microscope images were examined, it was seen the apoptotic effect and was found that the results were similar for the two oils. The results show that these essential oils are worth further research.
