Abstract (EN)

In the period from the ancient times to the present, herbs with medicinal efficacy have been used in respiratory system diseases. However, undesirable effects may occur as a result of unconscious use of medicinal plants. With the discovery of penicillin, antibiotics treated infections in patients. However, with the excessive use of antibiotics, many antibiotics have become ineffective even in simple infections. This situation has created a serious public health problem today and has increased the importance of the use of medicinal plants. It would be beneficial to use medicinal herbs based on evidence and scientific data. The aim of this study is to evaluate plants effective in respiratory system diseases in terms of phytotherapy and help them to benefit in the most accurate way. For this purpose, drugs obtained from pharmacies and herbalists were examined macroscopically and microscopically. Medicinal plants effective in the respiratory system were determined by scanning the literature. The phytotherapy properties of these plants were investigated and their monographs were prepared. As a result of the study, it was seen that the drugs obtained from herbalists could not even meet the food safety standards, and the sale of standardized reliable medicinal plants from pharmacies was recommended.
