Road and journey in literary work

?Road? and ?journey? are mentioned in thematic structure of various literary works that belong to the literature of both today and the past. Because, from the beginning of humankind, it?s inevitable for people to take vacations for business or pleasure. Therefore, ?road? and ?journey? play an important role in strengthening the bounds of society and forming its literature.The concepts such as ?setting out on a journey?, ?being on the way? and ?taking trips? not only make societies become civilizations, but also they affect the development stages of the individual, the smallest unit of the society. The stages mentioned are conveyed conventionally to next generations by re-produced works of litterateurs. Starting with the informative definitions of the terms in various aspects, this paper tries to point out how ?road? and ?journey? are reflected on the literary works and what effects they create on their characters. Moreover, common features of these works consisting of ?road? and ?journey? narratives from the past to the future are emphasized. Key words: Road, journey, hero, tradition, literary work.
