Researching Hazi̇ne-i̇ Evrak magazine in literary aspect

Hazine-i Evrak was a literature, knowledge and science magazine which was published between the years of 1881-1886. In this study, poems in the magazine was examined and evaluated in terms of structure and content. As the 18th century was a precursor of change for the world, the situation was also the same for the Ottoman Empire. This historic process the empire lived through and its reflections on society influenced also the literature profoundly and it even made the literature a tool for this changing order. Ottoman intellectuals who had education in Europe and came back brought quite different ideas with themselves. As soon as they came back, they released their ideas to the public first by means of newspapers then magazines and the studies they made. Because of that this era became the period when the most effort was made to illuminate the public. On the one hand the public tried to comprehend these ideas which were new and which seemed to be opposite to their own values, on the other hand all the old things continued dominance and stood up to the new like a stronghold. The most concrete area to observe this conflict between the old and the new was literature. Hazine-i Evrak magazine was also one of the pioneer magazines of the era which had all of the before mentioned characteristics. The magazine was published is continuously for five years with sixty eight issues. Prominent poets and authors of the era were included in the magazine.
