Determinetion of land use types of Edirne province using remote sensing and GIS

In this study it was aimed to determine of land use types of Edirne province using remote sensing and GIS.For this purpose 3 units of ASTER satellite image were purchased and these images were transferred to the computer. These images were merged, processed, classified by ERDAS Imagine and ARC GIS sofwares. And major land use types were formed. These land use types have been mapped as provinces and districts. The result of classification were compared with data of Edirne Agricultural Provincial Office and Provincial Soil Inventory Report.Seven land use types were determined as dry farming, forest, grassland, rice areas, settlements, irrigated farming, water surface in Edirne province. The proportional distribution of land use types are 56,07 % dry farming, 14,98 % forest, 15,43 % grassland, 9,07 % rice area, 2,59 % settlements, 1,24 % irrigated farming and 0,62 % water surface.
