Our classical poetry preserved its existence during the empire by raising its literary value in every century and thus unique pieces were produced. From their beginning to end, each century had affects, transformations and movements in themselves. However, it was the 16th century when our ottoman poetry presented mostly characteristically its features. The poets, who had a voice in ottoman poetry in this peak period of the Empire, were treated with honor by the rulers. In this century, top personages such as Fuzûlî and Bâkî produced unique pieces in the within the Empire.Edirneli Nazmî is also a poet who lived in this century and took attention with his originality. We can suggest that no sufficient study on his ottoman poetry was done. In this respect, having made evaluations on his poems by analyzing his ottoman poetry with this study is a significant step for the poetry identity of the poet. It is obvious that Nazmî is a different poet. By understanding and examining this in terms of both the characteristics of him in his ottoman poetry and his poems? structure, it is a relevant evaluation to suggest that this will provide positive effects to both 16th century ottoman poetry and to the general aspects of ottoman poetry.
