Abstract (EN)
Legends are a profound form of narrative that play an influential role in defining the beliefs and culture of humanity. Over time, they have undergone various transformations, being transmitted among different societies and cultures, and have survived to the present day. According to research and symposiums, legends are classified under four main categories: "extraordinary", "historical", "religious" and "creation". In animation cinema, legends also hold a significant place in shaping the narrative and plot, drawing on various cultures and belief systems. Animated films and cinema, through their reflections on culture, legends, and history, engage people of all ages and backgrounds in these subjects, raising awareness and thus becoming a critical tool in the transmission of culture and legends. This study aims to analyze the characters, settings, and plots in the animation projects "Brave", "Tutenstein", "The Tale of The Princess Kaguya", "Aybek", "Maysa and Bulut", and "Pachamama" based on the four main categories of legends. In this context, a short animated film titled "Bala", inspired by Turkish legends, has been created. This research will demonstrate that animation is not only a medium for entertainment but also serves as a tool for intercultural communication, playing a role in preserving cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations.
