Analysis of acoustic conditions depending on different space organizations of historical mosques in Aegean Region

The aims of the study are to determine the acoustic parameter ranges according to the groups in the proposed classification by analyzing the relations between the objective acoustical parameters of the volume, plan typology and top cover forms as the geometric parameters and to reveal optimum acoustic parameter approaches that will guide the first stages of the mosque design. A new mosque classification was created based on the covering system, volumes, and plan typologies, which are thought to affect the acoustical conditions of the historical mosques in the Aegean Region as the study area. Acoustic parameter values of mosques were obtained by acoustic field measurements and acoustic simulation software. The relations of objective acoustic parameter values with geometric parameters were verified with numerical data using methods of statistical analysis. Standard deviation values/ ranges of variation of acoustic parameters, variance analysis, pearson correlation analysis, simple linear regression analysis, coefficient of variation analysis and multiple regression analysis methods are applied based on the developed analysis of general parameters to detailed parameters. As a result of the analyses, it has been revealed that acoustical parameters are not sufficient in the evaluation of mosques, and they should be considered as a whole with the geometric parameters and material properties of the mosques. In the study, sets of equations, included acoustic parameters and geometric parameters, were developed for each top cover group.
