Abstract (EN)

Due to increasing population and developing technology, the world's energy demand is increasing day by day. The use of environmentally friendly renewable resources is very important in meeting the increasing energy needs. In this manner, efforts and investments in Turkey as well as in the world continues rapidly. Among the renewable energy sources, the sun has a strategic importance because of its huge potential and unlimitedness. Solar chimneys are one of the methods that generate electricity using solar energy. In this method, the rise of hot air principle, is using in the production of electrical energy. In this study, sloped solar chimney was designed. The sloped solar chimney was manufactured at Konya Technical University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Science. The semicircular collector had a diameter of 6,4 m and the height of the chimney was 8 m. Temperature and air velocity measurements were made at different sections of the collector and chimney. The solar irradiation of the region where the test setup is located were measured and evaluated. As a result, it is believed that the sloped solar chimney power plant can be an alternative method to meet the energy need of our country.
