An investigation on the application of organic strawberry production in egirdir (Isparta) conditions

This study was performed with the Camarosa strawberry cultivar at theEgirdir Horticultural Research Institute between 2004 and 2006. The yield, thequality and the plant properties of strawberry in conventional production system andvarious applications of nutrition in organic production systems were investigated andcompared during the study. Macro and micro analysis were made at the leaves andfruits of strawberry and performed to investigate the nutrition absorption effects ofstrawberry. Moreover, economical analysis were performed to compare the cost-benefit of conventional and organic production of strawberry. The plants were grownas frigo seedlings planted in the third week of July and dripping method was used forwatering the plants.The results of experiments were tested statistically to determine thesignificant factors. It was concluded that significant effects were found for bothmethods on the yield and weight of fruit. However, there were no significant effectson the pH, titratable acidity, total soluble solids, flavor-aroma, firmness,chrominance, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and ellagic acid. The cumulative yield forconventional and organic production were obtained as 810,36 g/plant and 526,32-776,34 g/plant respectively. The average weight of fruit for two consecutive yearswith conventional and organic production methods were 13,20 g and 12,40-13,16 grespectively. From the results of this research, it could be suggested to the producersto make the following applications in this order: Farm manure + Green Manure +Clinoptilolite + Seaweed (CG+YG+Kln+DY), Farm manure + Clinoptilolite +Seaweed (CG+Kln+DY), Farm manure + Green manure + Seaweed (CG+YG+DY)in Egirdir (Isparta) conditions.Keywords: Organic production, Conventional production, Strawberry,Eğirdir (Isparta)II
