The reasearch of the football training's effect on motor proficiency, communication skills and psychological adaptation levels of the educable mental disabled children

The purpose of the study is determining the effect of football training programme's which is implied on educable mental disabled children aged between 8 and 12 years, motor proficiency, communication skills, psychological adaptation levels. In the study, a special football training programme is prepared for 12 week and this programme is put into practice with the students who are identified as experimental group. It is aimed to compare motor, communication skills and psychological adaptation levels between the students who continue their normal training programme with the students who continue their football training programme . The study, which is designed as quasi-experimental in the preliminary test and the final test is carried out with 24 students that consist of 12 experimental group students and 12 control group students. Football training programme is applied with 12 mentally disabled students who count in experimental group for 2 days a week and 60 minutes per day for 12 weeks. In order to test motor skills of students Bruininks Oseretsky Test (BOT2) is implied. Hacettepe Emotional Adjustment Scale and Performance Determination Form for Mentally Disabled Persons is used for parents, special education teachers and psychologists of the children. This scales which are used in preliminary test are used again as final test in the end of the study. Experimental and control groups which constitute the sample group of the study is tested with two factor variance analysis which is concerned with preliminary and final test. As conclusion, between preliminary and final test points in applied football training programme's motor proficiency, communication skills and psychological adaptation levels between experimental and control group, a meaningful difference is identified on behalf of experimental group.
