Examination of the behaviors of the instructors serving in education faculties with regards to the classroom management

Main purpose of this research is to examine the behaviors of the instructors serving in education faculties with regards to the classroom management. In this context, it was tried to determine whether there was any difference between the opinions of instructors and those of the students and whether the opinions differentiated according to certain personal variables. The fact that the research is based on the opinions of the instructors and students gives a descriptive quality to the research. Study area of the research consists of 3250 final year students and 440 instructors who serve in Gazi University, Ankara University and Hacettepe University which are among the state universities located in Ankara.Scope and validity of the scale used in the research and appropriateness of articles to the purpose were determined in accordance with the opinions of the subject experts. Structural validity of the scale developed by the researcher was determined via factor analysis, and Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient was calculated for its reliability. Total variance explanation rate of the five factor scale made up of 47 articles was found as 58% and Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient was calculated as .94.SPSS (The Statistical Packet for The Social Sciences) was utilized for the necessary statistical analyses on the data.In determination of the opinions of instructors and students, arithmetic average ( ) and standard deviation (ss) were used. T test and variance analysis were applied in accordance with the levels of variables in order to determine whether there was any difference between the opinions. Significance level in determination of the differences between opinions was taken as ? = 0.05.According to the results of the research, it was realized that?While instructors mention that they ?always? display the behaviors of classroom management, students express that instructors display these behaviors ?from time to time?.Opinions of the instructors do not differentiate according to their genders, age categories, academic seniority, academic positions and levels of professional satisfaction.Evaluating the research findings from the point of the variables related to the students, no difference is observed between the student opinions according to the students? genders, their perceptions about the classroom management course and their successes in classroom management courses and the students share similar negative opinions with regards to the classroom management behaviors.
