Abstract (EN)

The objective of this essay is to understand the tendency of 1st and 4th class students attending to Music Section at Education Faculties toward to career as music teacher by taking into consideration students? some attitude variablities. The field of this essay is the whole 1 st and 4 th class students attending to Music Sections at Education Faculties in Turkey. Sampling group of this survey covers total 1102 students educated in 1st and 4th classes attending Department of Musical Sciences at Education Faculties in Turkey in 2006-2007 Academic Year. The data related to this study has been collected with the attitude scale aiming at career, Music Teacher. The Scale has two chapter. The first chapter includes individual data. The second chapter is comprised total 19 attitude statements concerning the sub dimensions ?sympathy? and ?worth? in order to understand the students? real objective for the career, Music Teacher. The coded data having from the scale has been analysed using the SPSS (The Statistical Packet for Social Sciences) program. Frequency and dispersion in percentage concerning the first chapter of the scale are determened. Then, mathematical average and standard deviation aiming to realize the students? attitudes for the purpose to clarify the difference in attitudes have been used as ?t? test in bilateral critics for independent groups and as variant analys in changable groups more then two. Different wievs were tested at ? = 0.05 level wheter there is a gap or not. 1. The attitudes of the students participating in music education is quite positive. 2. There is a considerable difference between the attitudes of the genders. Females are much more positive then males. v 3. On the other hand, there is also a difference according to the classes. Students? attitudes at first class is more positive then the students? attitudes at forth class. 4. There is no difference in terms of students? attitudes graduated different high schools. 5. There is not any effect of the students? parents educational situation on total scores having from the scale. 6. Being a music teacher in a family does not effect the students? attitudes on selecting this professional as a music teacher. 7. Being a music teacher within the relatives does not effect the students? attitudes on selecting this professional as a music teacher 8. Students? attitudes concerning selecting music teacher as a professional are changable due to the main reason to select this career: Students have more positive attitudes declared that they have chosen this career because they are impressed by their own music teachers, this is a high motivated work, this would provide them with an extra academic education then the students stated that this is an easy career and there is no other option for them. 9. There is also a difference among the students? attitudes observed according to their perception on lessons providing with knowledge needed as a music teacher and on lessons providing with knowledge in musical field. The students? attitudes who they have a perception that knowledge needed as a music teacher and knowledge needed in musical field are ?very important?, is much higher then the students who have a perception about the importance of those criterias ?moderate? or ?none?.
