Investigation of partner selection strategies and relationship satisfaction between various variables in the students of education faculty

Abstract (EN)
The research aims to investigate the relation between partner selection strategies and relationship satisfaction in education faculty students. The sample of the study consists of 866 students studying at Sakarya University Faculty of Education, which has voluntarily agreed to participate in the research. In the research Personal Information Form (by Researcher), Partner Selection Strategies Inventory (by Altuntaş and Atli), and Relationship Satisfaction Scale (by Hendrick) were used to collect data. SPSS 17.0 package program was used for analysis. Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Shapiro Wilk normality test was applied in order to determine whether the data obtained were normal distribution. The Kruskal Wallis Test, which is the nonparametric method used in cases where the data obtained from the scales do not provide assumptions; In the analysis of variance, Mann-Whitney U Test was used to determine the dimensions of this difference. As a result of the analyzes, a positive significant relationship was found between Romantic Relationship Satisfaction and Choosing Partner Strategies Inventory, physical trait and love sub dimension. Choosing Partner Strategies Inventory, except Virginity Sub-dimension shows a statistically significant difference according to other sub-dimensions gender, Socioeconomic Status, Physical Characteristics, Virginity sub-dimension scores, according to their age, Choosing Partner Strategies Inventory all sub-dimensions according to the departmens where students studied, Family Institution and Trust, Physical Characteristics and Child Care sub-dimensions scores differ according to their socioeconomic status, Family Institution and Trust and Virginity sub-dimension scores according to their social support status and Religious and Social Similarity, Physical Characteristics, Virginity and Love sub-dimension scores according to the number of romantic relationships they experienced. Also Romantic Relationship Satisfaction; it shows a significant difference according to the age of the participants, the department they are studying, the type of social support they perceive and the number of romantic relationships they experience.
