Özet (EN)

This research analyses teacher trainees emphatic and narsistic attitudes from different aspects. The research has five main topics, namely: introduction, related literature, evidences and interpretations and solutions and proposals.Maltepe University Education Faculty students studying in 2010 -2011 constitute the sample of the research. A total of 150 students from Computer and Teaching Technologies? Teaching, Mathematics Teaching, Psychological Counselors, Special Education Teaching and English as a foreign language teaching students represent the sample.Narcissistic Personality Inventory was used to identify students? narcissistic tendency, which was standardized to Turkish by Atay in 2009. The inventory is made up of 16 questions. To determine students? emphatic tendencies the Cambridge Attitude Inventory, which was adapted to Turkish by Bora and Baysan in 2009, was used. In order to introduce the sample, a demographic information form was developed.Percentage and frequencies of the demographic variables were made. Furthermore, participants? empathy percentages and narcissistic total point variables were researched. To determine differences in empathy outcomes in sex, age and subliminal income variables, the İndependent Groups? t-Test was used and at the end of the test there was no statistical significant outcome of the group?s arithmetic mean. Furthermore, to differentiate mother and father education variables, the One-Dimension Variance Analyses (ANOVA) was used and the outcome of group arithmetic mean analyses was not found significant. The Mann ? Whithney U test was used to determine whether parents? being alive cause a difference. As the outcome of this analysis, the arithmetic differcence between those groups was not found significant. Kruskal ? Wallis test was used to determine whether the number of siblings a difference in empathy percentages. At the end of the test, groups? arithmetic means were not found significant. To determine whether the subline percentages of narcissism (superiority, exhibitionism, authority, exploitation, preternsion and self sufficiency) and total narcissism percentages are affected by the variables gender, father?s education, the faculty department of the participants, parents? being alive and level of income, Mann ? Whitney U test was used, however the difference between the groups? arithmetic means were not found significant. On the contrary, as of the outcome of the Mann- Whitney U test which was used to determine whether the ?self-sufficiency? percentages are affected more significantly considering variables of age, the difference between the groups? arithmetic means were found significant. The Kruskal ? Wallis test is determined to find out the narcissistic quantity (result) and sub dimensions such as exhibitionism, authority, exploitation, preternsion and self-sufficiency in comparison to the variables of mother?s education and the groups? arithmetic means were not found significant. However, as the outcome of the test which was proceeded through the variables of mother?s education compared to the participants? ?superiority? percentages, the groups? arithmetic means were found far more significant. To interpret the impact of narcissism inventory sub dimensions empathy totals the hierarchy regression analyses test was used.As a result yet there are no researches about narcissism and empathy in our country. For further analyses I recommend to have a wider control group.
