Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to investigate the effects of mobile math games on students' mathematics achievement, attitude, and motivation. The research was conducted during the 2022-2023 academic year among 4th-grade students in two separate public schools in Şanlıurfa Suruç district. The study involved a total of 50 students, divided into 25 experimental and 25 control groups. The experimental group received 6 weeks of math education supported by mobile games, while the control group continued with the conventional teaching method. The data of the study were collected with mathematics attitude scale, motivation scale and mathematics achievement test. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS 26 software, and Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test were used. The results of the study showed that the experimental group, which used mobile math games, demonstrated an increase in mathematics achievement, a positive change in mathematics attitude, and an increase in internal motivation. Additionally, a decrease in external motivation and demotivation levels was observed. In contrast, the control group, which continued with the traditional teaching method, experienced a decrease in academic achievement, no significant change in mathematics attitude, and a significant increase in external motivation. This research emphasizes the potential of educational mobile math games to positively influence students' mathematics learning processes and motivation. Further studies and research are recommended to better understand the potential of mobile technology-based educational methods in mathematics education.
