Abstract (EN)
In this study we researcged the effects of vitamin C and vitamin E in Erlich Ascites Carcinoma implanted mouse liver tissues for both protection and treatement purposes. In order to determine changes in liver tissues of the mouses the levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA), Glutathione (GSH) and Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD) were analyzed.36 Swiss Albino male mouses (2.5-3 months old) were utilized in the study. Mouses are grouped randomly as follows: Group I: Control group tumor (SF) , Group II: Vitamin C tumor (200 mg/kg/day C vitamin), Group III: Vitamin E tumor (40mg/kg/day E vitamin), Group IV: Vitamin C and Vitamin E tumor (200 mg/kg/day C vitamin and 40mg/kg/day E vitamin). The applications were done as IP for 10 days. The average body weight % changes of the subjects were calculated and compared between each groups statistically, the differences were found insignificant (p>0.05). The average tumor and liver tissue weight of the subjects were found statistically insignificant (p>0.05).Liver MDA levels of three different treatment groups were lower than control group (p<0.05). It was seen that vitamin treatments increased GSH level in Erlich Ascites Carcinoma implanted mouse livers (p<0.05). SOD levels in liver tissue of the subjects were found insignificant (p>0.05).As a result we observed that MDA, the product of ROS, decreased and GSH increased significantly in Erlich Ascites Carcinoma implanted subjects that are cured with ?-tokoferol and AA. No statistically differences were found in terms of SOD levels. We think that he applications of vitamin C and vitamin E may effect the adhesive and invasive behaviour of tumors in addition to the effects seen in vital organs due to ROS increase in tumor development. Keywords: Vitamin C, vitamin E, free radicals, antioxidants, oxidative stres.
