Abstract (EN)
Anatomically distal radius is one of the most fragile joints. Complex wrist joint fractures are seen parallel with elongation of life-time and technologic developments caused radical treatment changes. It was found that there is a close relation between the reduction and functional results for intraarticular distal radius fractures. Maintaining the anatomic reduction, especially after the surgery is very important. In this study we aimed to determine the role and efficiency of fixed angled locked compression plates in preventing the reduction loss.We compared the results of the conventional plate and/or external fixator group (Group 1) with fixed angled locked compression plate group (Group 2).Evaluation of radiologic parameters showed that radial length, radial inclination and intraarticular stepping difference is more significant in Group 1. Volar angulation was not statistically significant in both groups. Also there wasn't any statistically significant difference between the groups for functional results, arthritic differences and gripping strength. It was determined that locked compression plates are efficient to prevent reduction losses by supporting the subchondral bone.Key words: Distal radius, plate, reduction loss
