A research on photovoltaic panels used on cover of ecological buildings in terms of design criterion

A RESEARCH ON PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS USED ON COVER OFECOLOGICAL BUILDINGS IN TERMS OF DESIGN CRITERIONHatice Pelin ÖZDOĞANArchitecture, M. S. ThesisNowadays, because of unconscious usage of energy, environmental problems that threat thehuman life appears. Because of it, sensibility of environment protection becomes increasingconcerning subject. Thus, architectural discipline that affects the nature directly couldn?t benon-reacting to those problems. In this sense, in most of the developed countries, theimportance of environmentalist concept that founded energy active design or ecologicarchitectural concept gradually increases.In this work, in the sense of energy active design, cover of the building can be designed forsurface to gain energy with photovoltaic panels. The information about this subject will bementioned. In the first chapter, purpose of this work and content is determined. In the secondchapter, energy concept is defined, nonrenewable and renewable energy sources are examinedand the importance of solar energy is emphasized. In the third chapter, in the title of usage ofphotovoltaic panel in the building cover, the history of photovoltaics, structure, types andfacility of usage in the buildings are explained. In the forth chapter, in the scope of thecriterions explained in the third chapter, the examples in foreign countries of photovoltaicpanels usage in the building covers are mentioned.
