Correlation between ecorecreative attitude and environmental consciousness: A case study of Alanya

The impact of uncontrolled tourism development and increasing recreational use in destinations on natural resources is constantly increasing. One of the things that needs to be done to ensure the sustainability of natural resources is the conscious use of existing resources. For this purpose, it is aimed to examine the relationship between tourist's ecorecreative attitudes and environmental consciousness. A quantitative approach was adopted in the realization of the study. The data were collected from 399 domestic and foreign tourists coming to Alanya region by survey method. In the analysis phase of the data, Mann Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis H-Tests were used as well as frequency, percentage and correlation analyses. In the study, it was determined that there is a significant and strong relationship between the ecorecreative attitudes of tourists and their environmental consciousness levels. In the study, it was also determined that tourist's nationality, income status and length of stay in Alanya made a difference in their environmental consciousness and eco-recreational attitudes.
