Abstract (EN)
The structure with setback in its simplest form consists of two parts: First part is on ground level and named the base. Second part is on the base and named the tower. Generally, the base part of the structure having setback is wide and low. However, the tower part of the structure has opposite character with the base. These structures can be classified different ways. But classifying of these structures depending on the location of the tower relative to the base is important. Seismology Committee Structural Engineers Association of California recommended in 1980 that Buildings with setbacks wherein the plan dimension of the tower in each direction is at least 75 percent of the corresponding plan dimension of the lower part may be considered as uniform buildings without setback. There is several research about the dynamic response of the structure with symmetric setback. However, studies about dynamic response of structure with eccentric setback is limited. Additionally, in recent years, the number of structures designed having setback is increasing. So, the subject of this M.S. Thesis is chosen as the determination of the dynamic response of multistory buildings with eccentric setback subject to multi-component ground motion.
