Abstract (EN)

Ropes are used for hard works lifting loads, such as transportation and sling where those are manufactured by many different materials in accordance with place of use. Steel wire ropes are used as carrier elements in all branches of industry. Wire ropes, which are frequently used in elevator, crane, aerial ropeway systems, mine hoisting, offshore systems as material shandling equipment which are preferred because of their advantages. In particular, it has a flexible structure and consists of many wires to distribute the load on these where it. İncreases operational safety. It is very important to know the safely transport ranges and maximum load lifting capacities of steel wire ropes. When we examine literature, for about 50 years. In order to determine rope lifting capacity and stresses occurred on ropes, various experimental, analytical and three-dimensional model analysis studies can be seen. In this study, which consists of six outer wires wrapped helically around are a steel rope strand has been investigated. First, analytical calculations have been conducted by using Love's equilibrium equations and Costello's bar theory.Maximum axial force, twisting moment and stresses occured on rope have been calculated. Then, steel wire rope strand has been modelled and finite element analyses have been performed by frictional and frictionless conditions. Results obtained by ANSYS and results obtained by analytical calculations have been compared and discussed. The results have been found consistent with each other.
