Abstract (EN)

In this study on the first twenty stories of Turkish El-Ferec Ba?de?ş-Şidde, which is composed of forty-two stories, we predicate it on the critical text written in Turkey (Hasan Kavruk, Süleyman Çaldak, Kazım Yoldaş, El-Ferec Ba?de?ş-Şidde, Malatya 2000).El-Ferec Ba?de?ş-Şidde is one of the most influential works in Turkish folk literature. These Turkish stories, particularly reminding of tales, are a source of significance for reflecting the cultural patterns of the period in which they were created. By going into the deeper parts of this source with the intention of finding out the motifs, we aim both to have knowledge about social and cultural patterns and to find clues to the way of making up of the plots. We handle the study in two chapters besides the introduction and the conclusion. In the introduction, we try to explain the subject of motif clearly. In the first chapter, we lay the groundwork for our main subject by providing information about El-Ferec Ba?de?ş-Şidde. We summarise the stories so as to form some general opinions about the stories. In the second chapter, we present the motifs we have discovered in the first twenty stories in the light of the pre-established principles. We based them on the determined motifs of other stories. Thus, we aim to show that the motifs presented in the text are not only the symbols of social and cultural patterns but also are instrumental elements functioning in the construction of plot.Keywords1.
