Analayse of the chapter of Kitâbu?s-Salât of el-Hâkim eş-Şehîd el-Mervezî?s el-Kâfî

El-Kâfî, written by El-Hâkîm eş-Şehîd el-Mervezî, is a condensed work that organized according to the chapters of canon law and prepared by omitting repetitions of ?el-Asl (el-Mebsut), el-Câmiu?s-Sağir, el-Câmiu?l-Kebir?, by Imam Mohammad, one of the leading names of Hanefi sect. This work particularly includes the details of Hanefi law.That the first cahpter of the book is Kitâbu?s-salât indicates the book has a different classification from the traditional style. That is, in the classical law books the chapters of Taharet usually takes the firts place.The author preferred a brief and comprehensible expression in order to enable the book to be understood easily. Because it would be a condensed work, the chapters were tried to examin superficially and in a simple way.The author ignored definitions of the concepts, rather, he mostly demonstrated the different points of view among the leading names of Hanefi sect, Imam Azam, Abu Yusuf and Imam Mohammad. Besides, he stated ideas of the masters at law in his era with his own ideas.The original copy of this book has not reached us. One of the oldest copies of the book we reached is the copy of Molla Çelebi in Sulaimania Library. Although El-Kâfî was annotated several times, the most familiar annotation that reached today is Serahsî?s El-Mebsut.Our subject is the chapter of Kitâbu?s-salât, which is the first chapter of the book. In this study we first gave information about the life of the author, his era and his books. Then, regarding the oldest copy as a baseline, we tried to constitute the most coherent text to the original one by analysing the chapter of Kitâbu?s-salât of the author?s El-Kâfî
