The program proposal for beginner level cello education suitable for El Sistema inspired children's symphony orchestras

The purpose of this research is to design an education program proposal for cello education as a beginner-level at the El Sistema inspired children's symphony orchestras in Turkey. For this purpose, determining the learning needs of the children's symphony orchestra and the playing skills expected at the beginner level were considered. The problem of the study was identified to be the lack of beginner-level Turkish educational material written for El Sistema inspired children's symphony orchestras. Before preparing the program proposal, beginner-level study materials for professional cello training were examined. It has been determined that the scope and difficulty levels of these materials are not suitable for use in El Sistema inspired children orchestras. The needs of Fevzi Çakmak String Orchestra of Eskişehir Tepebaşı Municipality were defined with the meetings held before the program proposal developed. The orchestra repertoire played in the beginning year was examined, and solutions were sought for the most common problems related to students' playing needs in the first three months, considering the skills to be acquired to play this repertoire. A program proposal was created to eliminate the encountered and potential problems. During the implementation phase of the program, the positive aspects of the proposal were determined through observations and interviews, and its scope and difficulty level were re-evaluated. In the light of the obtained data and expert opinions, the results that will contribute to the revision of the proposal have been shared in the research.
