Abstract (EN)
Aim: Examining the healthy life style behaviors, eating behavior disorders and the related factors of the individuals who applied to the Diet Polyclinic of Elazig Training and Research Hospital for the purpose of losing weight. Material and Method: The Study was conducted on 200 women, 46 men, and 246 people in total. The individuals applied to Diet Polyclinic of Elazig Training and Research Hospital for the purpose of losing weight. The questionnaire that included the socio-demographic characteristics of the individuals, the "Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale", and the "Eating Attitude Test" were applied with the face-to-face interview technique. The SPSS-17 Program was used for the assessment of the data. According to the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, the Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis Variance Analysis, and Chi-Square Test were used for the data that did not fit normal distribution; and the Student t-test and One-way ANOVA Tests were used for the data that fit the normal distribution. Results: The healthy lifestyle behavior scale point average of the individuals who participated in the study was found as 115.8±16.6. It was determined that the body mass index, education level, mother's education level, having tried diet before, and having a dietary program at the time of the study influenced the behaviors that develop health. Possible eating behavior disorder in the individuals was 6.9%. Age, mother's educational level, and having a dietary program influenced the eating behaviors of the individuals. No relations were found between the gender, marital status, father's educational level, the behaviors that develop health, and eating behaviors. Conclusion: 65.4% of the individuals who participated in the study were obese people. It was observed that as the body mass index increased in the individuals, they showed the behaviors that develop health at a less rate. It is recommended that the individuals that want to lose weight must be informed about the issues that lack adequate information, and relevant programs must be organized and applied for them.
