Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the incidence of eye diseases in cats and dogs brought to Fırat University Animal Hospital Small Animal Surgery Clinic in Elazığ, and Yuva Veterinary Clinic and Kare Veterinary Clinic in Mersin with complaints of eye diseases. In the study, animals brought with complaints of eye diseases were evaluated separately in terms of species, race, age, gender and the necessary data were recorded. 918 cats and 351 dogs in Elazig; 304 cats and 186 dogs in Mersin, a total of 1222 cats and 537 dogs, were examined as surgical patients. While a total of 61 cats and 30 dogs were brought in Elazig with complaints of eye diseases; In Mersin, this rate was determined as 39 cats and 23 dogs. In both provinces, it was determined that the most common disease in cats was eye diseases, and conjunctivitis was the most common disease. Likewise, in both provinces, it was revealed that the most common complaints of eye diseases were in 2-year-old cats and dogs and mostly in males.
